oh how i love and adore this thing. i was one of those holdouts... you know who you are, the ones who say, "but there is nothing like snuggling up with a book in your hands, the smell of a new book, the feel of the paper in your hands.." ya ya, i said all that, i was so sure i wasn't going to like a kindle...

however, the mister bought me one for our anniversary in november, and i LOVE it. honestly, i do kinda miss the feel of a book, turning the pages, seeing how much i have read but that fails in comparison, to having all my books fit in my purse. to be able to pull out my book when we are stuck in traffic (and i am not the driver) or when i get to school early ( i do this on purpose just for this reason).

if you were like me and thought you wouldn't like one, i promise, you will!

just in case you are wondering who you are talking to when you convo me.. this is me and of course my little miss A - it's an arms reach pic, so not perfect, but as moms we never have that many pics with our kids, so i try to remember to take some :)

arms reach pics always remind me of facebook pics (which is odd, since i dont do FB, but ive seen plenty) - anyway, i once was perusing some high fashion pics and found a whole plethora of pics of this gorgeous model (from a far away country), and i later saw this same pic on someone's FB and blog, funny. i would feel off loggin into my blog and seeing someone else's pic there. but i guess to each their own :)

for the past few years, if we went anywhere, i lugged around my big old camera plus a few lenses.... well, you know what i realized when i recently made my 2010 family book? REAL life pics, fun pics, don't all have to be from a big ole' dslr.... some of my favorite photos are far from canvas worthy, but they make me smile just the same... so, the past few times we have gone on outings, i have borrowed little miss autumn's p&s and it fits in the little cell phone pocket of my purse. yippee. here are a couple pics from this weekend at the local little league regional championship games.... the road to the ll world series... after a month, and going through 724 pictures. i am done with this wonderful session.

this session is not just a session about a birth, but a session about how prayers are answered, how dreams come true. how you can not know someone one minute and then love them the next.

usually when i am at a session. i sort of feel disconnected from the situation. i want people to be real. however, i didn't feel like an outsider with michelle and steve. for 3 hours, we laughed, we cried and we witnessed the miracle of life.

so you all - this sweet little man is the little guy i watched come into this world. i never ever thought i would do a birth session and was shocked when asked and now honored to have had this experience. we did his newborn pics last week and in the words of my husband this little guy "showed us who was boss" during the session... i feel close to him since i saw him enter this world, isn't he the cutest?

okay, i don't want to say too much or i will start to cry and i have to leave for work soon, so i will just say that if you are a photographer, put a birth session on your "bucket list" :) i took over 700 photos, and am still post processing them to put to a slide show and with m's permission, would love to share with you all when it is done...

what i am working on now (in between the logos, my mind can never just do one thing) . . .

i am going to try and add some premade etsy shop sets. i know there are some sellers/store owners that may not have either have a need, a vision for what they want or a budget yet for a logo, but want something to liven up there shop. to have something that says "this shop rocks." to have a shop set (banner, avatar and "custom listing" graphics) that are not the regular clip art stuff out there, but more custom, more "etsyesque" (that is my new word, i am going to trademark it :)

so, my idea for the first set is some clothing. . . highlighted by a pillowcase style dress or two - if you have any ideas for me, jot 'em down!

we had a nice snowfall on saturday (i live in so cal so we only get snow a couple times a year). although the sun was at her back (otherwise she squints), the snow on the ground reflected the light so perfectly & evenly. bundle your kids up and go out in the snow, the pics will be worth it!!

in the midst of the madness that is holiday card time, i am just taking a moment to reflect on why i do what i do. my family, my kids. i work for them. this is my busiest time . . .a crazy couple of weeks, but it is worth it. so thank you. a huge thank you to my customers for allowing me to do what i love.

and here they are, my kids (and my "assistants in my shipping department - even my 6 year old helps count envelopes!). my reason for what i do, my inspiration, my heart & my world. all combined with my other passion . . . photography.

first, shelby had some gorgeous fall photos and wanted a special phrase about giving thasnks - to send something different this holiday. i created a tree and used a mixture of fonts and fall colors to make her her own unique design. thank you shelby!

then nancy wanted a design that fit her photos, one wide and two tall and she also had a phrase she wanted to use. she picked the patches layout and then i designed a plaid print to match her photos :) thank you so much nancy

little miss parker is one little special girl. she is lovingly referred as her parent's "little monster" - mom wanted a design that was just as perfect, unique and special as her daughter. so, we took inspiration from her favorite little hedgehog custom doll, a tree painted in her room and a little monster that mom wanted as the theme for her party - put all that together with a some style add a few adorable pics of parker and you get a design all her own :)

This little sweetie must bring light, warmth and brightness into her family's life as she is their little "sunshine." mom wanted a custom design that showed how special she is to them. so that is how i came to design this adorable little design, filled with a bright background, puffy clouds, a fun little bee, butterfly and of course SUNSHINE :)

this design was my marlena grace design, but mom (one of my favorite customers)wanted the colors to match the main photo, but not overpower it.

as a mom, and a designer, it gives me great joy to get to see other little ones growing up. little brantliegh is close to my daughter's age, so it is a little more special to have been able to "watch" her grow the last three years. next month this little princess is turning 5 and having a special princess make-over party with her friends and to celebrate, her mom asked for a custom design just for her. incorporated into the design are all things girlie and even a little dressed up doll designed after the little princess herself.

magical tutu princess party invitations

what little girl doesn't want to be a princess. and how many of those little girls want a princess party? we did this for my daughter's birthday, we had a princess theme and i had tutus, wands and crowns waiting for every little girl. they were all so excited and staying up for nights on end making everything was worth it. after that event, the awesome girl who helped me make all those things has now been making tutus for ther little girls for the past 8 months. her store is almost complete! she has tutus of all colors and will customize a single princess tutu or an entire party bundle just for you.

sometimes you have the perfect photo and you can not find the perfect announcement to go with it. it is those times that you want an announcement the compliments your photo perfectly... so, why not ask? depending upon the complexity of the work and how much of a backlog i have, i usually can customize an announcement to be perfect for you. occasionally the work involved may incur an additional design fee for the time, but i would never charge without letting you know. so, have a question? want to know if i can match something? just ask, katie's mom did and look how her's turned out :)
